From the Principal
We were extremely fortunate to have Bronze Medal Olympian Penny Smith come in on Friday to talk to the students and answer some questions. Her story is very inspiring and we are very grateful that Penny was able to come and spend some time with us.
I write this newsletter whilst on Grade 3/4 Camp to WarraGnan (Warrnambool). Lots of activities and fun is to be had for the next couple of days. We are due back at school tomorrow before the end of the day.
This week we look forward to our Book Week and dress up on Friday. We will have a parade on at 9am which we invite parents and friends to attend.
Enjoy the remainder of the week.

Book Week - Friday 6th September
This Friday 6th September we will have our Book Week Dress Up and activities day. On this day we will have a Parade at 9am which we invite parents and friends to come along.
After the parade the students will be split into groups from Prep to Grade 6 and participate in a number of activities that relate to some of the books that were CBCA listed this year.
This is always an enjoyable day.
Gr 5/6 Hooptime - last Friday
The Hooptime Basketball competition concluded last Friday with some of our Grade 3/4 students participating in the Rookies competition. Throughout these competitions the way the students have conducted themselves has been very pleasing. From showing positive sportsmanship to including everyone on the team, it has been a very successful few weeks. We thank all those who have helped coach, score, umpire or support.

We draw your attention to Friendship and Belonging. It is not always easy for children and teenagers to always know how to manage friendships. Learning how to make new friends and keep them involves a number of skills every young person needs to understand and develop. For some these skills will come very naturally, allowing them to easily move between different friendship groups, sharing their experiences and opening up to new people. For others, this can be much harder to navigate. Belonging to a group that is like-minded with similar interests is highly beneficial to a child’s wellbeing. Friendships are full of ups and downs and it is better for kids to learn how to manage and build their own friendships, even though as an adult carer you may be tempted to interfere.
